February 28, 2025 Friday - Today I didn’t work a whole lot either. My doctor called in a prescription for me but it wasn’t ready until late yesterday. I took my second dose this morning. I was feeling a little bit better by the end of the day. I took the pups out for a walk all the way down to the mailbox.
February 27, 2025 Thursday - Today I was feeling pretty crappy. I spent almost all day on the couch. I worked a bit but napped more. The worst part of being sick is still having to take the pups for a walk. This morning we just went out for a quick pee break out on the side of the house. I didn’t even put the girls on their leashes.
February 26, 2025 Wednesday - I was texting with my rheumatologist yesterday about The Fast and the Furious movies. She’s a big fan, which, to me, is really weird. She was actually quoting Vin Diesel at my last appointment. I mentioned I was coming down with something and she recommended I get a flu/covid test. I got the cooties.
February 25, 2025 Tuesday - Yesterday afternoon I started feeling pretty crappy. By time I was done with work I knew I had to got to the store to get some meds. These are my go-to drugs when I start to feel sick. DayQuil, NyQuil, Zicam tablets and nasal swabs. These seem to shorten my sickness at least a little bit.
February 24, 2025 Monday - This morning was really foggy. By the time we went for our walk though, the fog lifted and there were all these little patches of webs all over the yard. When we got out to the street there were tons of them all lining the road. After our walk, I grabbed my camera and got this photo.
February 23, 2025 Sunday - Today was a momentous day. I take the pups out all the time and we’ve gotten a Two Pee and Three Pee quite a few times. On a rare occasion we get a Two Poo. But until today we’ve never gotten the elusive Group Poop. Yes, today all three of the pups all pooped at the same time. So many fewer stops on our walk today.
February 22, 2025 Saturday - Today was a good day. I left the house in time to meet a friend I haven’t see in a long while for lunch. After lunch, I went to see Riley and work. We hung out for a bit and then I drove up north. I went to my friend’s house up in Plano. We drove over to north Ft. Worth to pick up his new car. We had drinks, cigars and steaks later.
February 21, 2025 Friday - So the last time I went to the grocery store I broke down and bought a bag of marshmallows. The regular sized ones. I put a few in my hot chocolate today. Now I’m thinking I should have bought the little ones. I like the regular sized ones for a snack every once in a while way better than the little ones.
February 20, 2025 Thursday - Today I had a doctor’s appointment in Dallas. I finally got the good pho that I’ve missed for so long. After the last two Mondays where I went out for pho and the place was closed, I decided to go to my old favorite pho place in Dallas. It did not disappoint. I even got an order to-go for dinner tomorrow.
February 19, 2025 Wednesday - When I woke up this morning, I checked the temperature. It was 17°. I was not looking forward to the morning walk with the pups. I guess they weren’t either. It was windy with little snowflakes floating in the wind. After my two meetings this morning, the first thing I did was make a big mug of hot tea.
February 18, 2025 Tuesday - We’ve had a little drizzle or light mist off and on all day today. When we went out for our morning walk, the grass was covered in raindrops. I thought I’d wait to see if the sun would ever come out. It didn’t. When we came out for our evening walk, the ground looked the same. After our walk, I got this photo.
February 17, 2025 Monday - For the second week in a row, I came up with the brilliant idea to go get pho for lunch. Last week, I saw my brother was home. Today, I called my sister. Both times, we pulled up and realized the pho place is closed on Mondays. A good breakfast place down the road was a sad second place.
February 16, 2025 Sunday - Today was a bit of a whole lazy day. I did do some stuff around the house, but mostly slept in a little and later napped a bit. Toward the end of the evening, I didn’t foresee anything exciting happening, so I grabbed my camera and got this photo. Pancake was dozing next to me in the light of the evening sun coming through the blinds.
February 15, 2025 Saturday - I’ve not slept well this past week, so I took advantage of not having anything to do this morning and slept in a bit. Today I did a bunch of laundry and other stuff around the house. After our evening walk, I took the pups with me to go get some groceries and pick up dinner. We saw a nice sunset on the way.
February 14, 2025 Friday - I looked at the weather the last time I went grocery shopping. I knew it was going to get cold and stay cold for a while. I got everything I needed to make a big pot of stew for the coming days. I put some of the sauce, veggies, and bits of beef in the pups’ bowls at dinner. We all got some warm comfort food for dinner.
February 13, 2025 Thursday - I love this colder weather. I just don’t like having to walk the dogs when it’s cold and windy. At least it’s not rainy too. This afternoon, I got a big mug of hot chocolate to wrap my hands around to keep them warm. I wish they sold little marshmallows in smaller bags. I kind of want a small bag of regular-sized marshmallows too.
February 12, 2025 Wednesday - I don’t eat cereal hardly ever, but Honey Nut Cheerios and Raisin Bran Crunch are probably my most favorite if I’m being an adult. Favorites as a kid are much more colorful. The downside of not eating this very often is that when I get this for an afternoon snack quite often, they’re a bit stale.
February 11, 2025 Tuesday - My last avocado was ripe this morning. I made the pups and me a little avocado toast with feta cheese and eggs for breakfast. I think of all the times I made food for myself and didn’t share it with any of my other dogs. I don’t know what changed, but Zak, Pancake, and Biscuit are reaping the benefits.
February 10, 2025 Monday - This morning when I went to walk the pups, I saw my brother was home. I called him to suggest pho for lunch. Someone please remind me the pho place is closed on Mondays. We had a good lunch anyways. When I was walking back inside at home, I noticed this little puddle by the back door.
February 9, 2025 Sunday - A long while back, I came across an ad for a showing of The Lord of the Rings at Alamo Drafthouse. I was able to get tickets for Riley, Ari, and me to see Return of the King. Even better, it’s just down the street from Roman Cucina. What I didn’t realize was that the tickets were on Super Bowl Sunday, and Roman Cucina was closed.
February 8, 2025 Saturday - Today I went to my friend’s house up north. After the requisite guac, we smoked cigars and had a Jack and Coke or two. We grilled steaks and corn and had a bit of wine with dinner. He gave his son a little wine with his steak, and the first thing he said was, “Why does steak taste so good with red wine?” An eternal question!
February 7, 2025 Friday - This morning when we went out for our walk,I noticed all the little yellow dandelion flowers on the side of the house. I took the pups for a walk and after getting back inside, I grabbed my camera and went back outside. There were so many to choose from. I found this one in the sun.
February 6, 2025 Thursday - Today was a long day of work, and when I was done, I did some work on my freelance gig. Toward the end of the evening, I realized I didn’t have a photo for today. Of course, my go-to is my handsome boy, Zak. He’s always lying on the couch at the end of the evening. I miss my big, deep, comfy couch.
February 5, 2025 Wednesday - The other day I saw a clip from Zombieland when they find the truck full of Snoballs. As I was waking through the grocery store yesterday I saw a display with lots of Hostess snacks. I remember having one of these when I was a little kid. I didn’t really care for them. I thought I try one. However many decades has passed hasn’t changed my mind.
February 4, 2025 Tuesday - Today I went to meet and do some photography for one of clients. They’re a forensic roof laboratory. The variety of clients I’ve been able to work with is really interesting. Over that last several month I learn a bit about bucking bulls, western wear, roofing forensics and even a little bit of pest control.
February 3, 2025 Monday - This evening when we walked out the back door for our walk we turn the corner of the house and saw all the dandelions glowing in the setting sun. I took the dogs back in and grabbed my camera. Zak was barking the whole time I was out getting this. It was just a delay of a few minutes, then we were back out on our way.
February 2, 2025 Sunday - Today I spent a large part of the day trying to wrap up the freelance gig I got. Just like yesterday I got up at some point and got a photo of the pups while they were being lazy. Biscuit is so photogenic, because she looks so much cuter in photos than in person. Or is it, “in dog?”
February 1, 2025 Saturday - I got a good freelance gig earlier this week. I spent a bit of today working at my desk. At some point I got up and saw the pups laying on the couch in the early afternoon sun. It’s funny, Zak gets very suspicious when I’m trying to get a photo of him. I guess I do get a little up in his face.
