December 31, 2012 - Monday
I made these a couple of years ago for Riley's NYE party. I made them again for her party this year. I thought it was pretty cool when one of her new friends asked what they were and a couple of her friends who were here two years ago answered, "Oh those are really good."
December 30, 2012 - Sunday
I went grocery shopping yesterday. Today I spent most of the day cooking. The first thing I made was Roasted Tomato Basil soup. The second was Smoked Turkey Pot Pies. I think I make the same things around this time every year. Warm, comfort foods. I'll be making my Minestone Soup in the next day or so.
December 29, 2012 - Saturday
Went to spend the evening with a friend to make dinner and watch a movie. This guy has been photographed a few times here, but how can I not. He lays right next to me and keeps my side warm while we watch movies. I remember when he used be so scared of me.

Got a bottle of JD Honey for Christmas to add to the collection. This is what constitutes a well stocked bar in my home. Please drink responsibly.

I took down my shade from the back patio the other day. Just in time before the snow yesterday. I have some really long icicles from the fasteners now. I really like this cold weather.
December 25, 2012 - Tuesday
The very rare White Christmas came this year. This was taken from my front porch. Spent the day on the couch waiting around for my little one to come back from her mom's. We spent a quiet evening in watching movies. I did walk up hill, both ways, in the snow to the store and back for snacks later.
December 24, 2012 - Monday
This is what can happen when you go to the country to celebrate the holidays. You end up feeding the cows and dodging cow patties. I came out with my brother in advance of the bad weather that is supposed to be here tomorrow. I had a great time with my family as always.
December 23, 2012 - Sunday
In preparation for our family's Christmas brunch tomorrow, I'm at Luna's picking up some menudo and hand-made torillas. Our get together is usually at night, but as our family has grown scheduling is becoming more and more challenging. We will be eating really well though.

Had a b-day breakfast for my sister early this morning. Went to go see a friend and his daughter for lunch. One more reason to love the holidays. Then Riley and I went and did some more Christmas shopping. We're almost done.

So the world didn't end today. Woo Hoo!! Today was our last day in the office until next year so another reason to celebrate. We got out of the office a little early too. I took this while waiting for a friend for an impromptu Greek Food Friday.

Some really crazy weather blew in today. It rained really hard for a while and then the wind blew so hard it dried off my patio within a few hours. I think my dogs appreciated that when they went out for the last time of the night.
December 18, 2012 - Tuesday
Invited by a friend to go see the Chinese Lantern festival. It was a really great display in Fair Park. Part was installed in the lagoon. The reflections of some of the elements were beautiful. Somehow seeing all these lights during the holiday seemed very Christmasy.

RIley wasn't to happy that I went to Austin, ate Salt Lick BBQ and saw a Cirque du Soleil show without her. This big bag of cotton candy didn't quite make up for it, but it did help a little.
December 16, 2012 - Sunday
Another quick trip to Austin. Great bbq at the Salt Lick, another great Cirque du Soleil show, great company of a good friend and then some Christmas shopping. This was on my way back to the car at the Round Rock Outlet Mall. This sunset was even more beautiful moments before I got to take this shot.

I was out in the Stockyards for the first time in a really long time. I managed to pull my camera out, turn it on, roll down the window and push the button as we were rolling past each other on my way out. Still kinda interesting. The driver apologized as she passed.

Being a dad, reading about the elementary school shooting in Connecticut today hurt so much. I posted a comment about it on FB and mentioned Riley. There couldn't be a more touching and comforting response from my little girl. My heart goes out to all those parents.

We spent most of the day getting our office ready for our Christmas/Open House/Client Appreciation party. We moved into our office in September and finally put the finishing touches on the place. It was a really great time for our little group.

The ornaments I have from Riley's elementary years are my favorite. Actually I couldn't care less what our tree looks like. One year we did a tacky tree with all different lights and ornaments. These are the only ones I care about.

I know I've posted a lot of pictures of my dogs recently, but how can I not. Zeke and I hang out on the couch on Sunday's pretty regularly now. I think the texture of dogs' noses is funny.

This is my baby, Vegas. She has decided that the tree skirt is her new blanket. She has laid underneath the tree since we put it up last week. I don't know what she's gonna think when we start putting presents there.

I think I could get used to having a chauffeur. I'm beginning to not be so nervous anymore. I'm not saying I'm relaxed, but I'm not on the verge of a panic attack either. If she starts calling me Mr. Daisy I'm gonna smack her.

Went to pick up Riley at Mockingbird Station. I love Chistmas time with all the lights everywhere.

Went out to lunch with the guys at the office. It was one of their birthdays. We went to Meso Maya. Very good lunch. I don't remember what this was called but the tomatillo sauce was delicious.

Shadow is always so eager to spend time with Riley on the day she gets back to our house. He's so needy until she bugs him enough and then he's done with her for the rest of the night. He's our biggest lovable goof.

Today was our surprise 70th birthday party for my Dad. Unfortunately its usually the event of a loss that gets our extended family all together. It was great to see all my aunts, uncles, cousins and long time family friends with just laughs and smiles all night long.
