March 31, 2023 - Friday - I was pretty busy all day with work. Being out here in the country I can’t just let the dogs out to do their business. I have to get their leashes on them and take them for a walk. By the end of the day I was tired and didn’t feel like cooking. I made peanut butter crackers for me and the dogs.
March 30, 2023 - Thursday - When I was young I did construction work with my dad. We remodeled a house in the TCU area for this one couple over the period of two years or so. They both were the coolest customers we ever worked for. The guy collected knives and gave this one to me. I keep it on my desk too.
March 29, 2023 - Wednesday - I was pretty busy most of the day editing videos. I still have so much stuff to unpack and organize. One great discovery I made this week was Kroger does grocery delivery out here. I’m so grateful for that one. It looks like someone is already comfortable and all moved in.
March 28, 2023 - Tuesday - I met my two friends at our favorite Italian place for dinner this evening. Another friend texted me about the astronomical event happening tonight. I got home well after dark and took the pups out after they ate. Some of those specs you see are Jupiter, Mercury, Venus, Mars and Uranus. Let the Uranus jokes begin!
March 27, 2023 - Monday - This morning I got up and took the dogs for a quick walk. I’ve moved out to the country to live with my dad. I think he’s going to like having company. I know I’m going to like being closer to all the family out here. After my status call with the work peeps I unpacked my desk stuff and got my workspace set up. I have a lot of small stones from cool places I’ve visited.
March 26, 2023 - Sunday - Today Riley and I got up early to take her stuff to her BF’s place where she’s moving. I hurried home to meet a bunch of family that came to help me move. I’m so thankful to have a large generous family. It took longer than I hoped but we ended the day with a great time at dinner. I drove back to Dallas to pick up the pooches after. I slept really good that night.
March 25, 2023 - Saturday - I spent all day getting ready to move tomorrow. I can’t stress enough how much I hate moving. I got a break late in afternoon when I got out to pick up the moving truck. I was wrapping up the paperwork when I noticed this on the guys desk. I’m glad I took a photo of it because it was the only photo I took today.
March 24, 2023 - Friday - I was out talking with our neighbor while she was playing with her dog. This is Max. I didn’t ask what kind of dog he is but I’m guessing he’s got a bit of poodle in him. One thing he really likes is to play with his ball. I’m not going to miss how Zak would bark any time he heard this guy bark.
March 23, 2023 - Thursday - Last trip to St. Louis we did quite a bit of videography. I had to check a full size suitcase because it was the only thing large enough to hold my tripods. I decided to invest in new travel tripods to avoid that headache. This one packs up to only 13” long. It’s not as tall but I’m not videoing giants. I like the color of this too.
March 22, 2023 - Wednesday - I met a friend at my favorite pho place. They have new menus and my old favorite has a new name. My go to order for years has been the P22 with a few extra limes and a fork. (See my post from last Friday) I guess since I’m moving soon I won’t have to remember it’s P15 now. Their Pho Chicken by any other name would still taste good. I’m going to miss this when I move.
March 21, 2023 - Tuesday - Pancake used to come lay on my right side next to my leg every time I’d sit on the couch. In the last few months she moved up a bit. She jumps up on me and over my shoulder to get to this spot. I took this because I could hear here gentle snoring in my ear. Her tail almost always curls around and tickles my ear on the other side.
March 20, 2023 - Monday - I think I took this early in the evening laying on the couch after work. I have so much to do to prepare for my move this coming weekend, but I dread it all. I’m not dreading moving, I just despise the process of moving. If I could I would just leaving everything here and start over.
March 19, 2023 - Sunday - My car has been in very desperate need of a wash for a long time. Today I got out to see my friend. I went through a carwash on the way. It’s been way too long since we smoked cigars and had a glass of whiskey. Tonight was the night. My time parking under a big tree will be coming to an end soon.
March 18, 2023 - Saturday - This evening I opened my box from Sparkle All Over again. This time I pulled out a Brookie. It’s a Brownie Cookie thing. It’s so good. It’s even better warm and better still with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. I think I portioned this just perfectly. The good bit of cookie with every bite of ice cream. It’s all about balance!
March 17, 2023 - Friday - I met friends that used to be coworkers for lunch. I do miss working with them but I'm glad we’re all still friends. Looking at this photo I realized I took it just after it was set down because it still has the chopsticks on the plate. I haven’t been able to use chopsticks for decades. What do people in Asian cultures do when they get arthritis?
March 16, 2023 - Thursday - I broke down and ordered some more cookies from Sparkle All Over. This time just ask for a Sampler. It’s 3 cookies each of four random flavors. I decided to go with the PB&J tonight. Like most times, I warmed it up a bit in the microwave. The bite of strawberry jelly in the middle is so good. Especially with the bit of PB there in the middle too.
March 15, 2023 - Wednesday - The web software I used for years stopped working last July. There are a couple of reasons I’m mad at Adobe. That’s one of them. I finally decided to rebuild my personal site on Squarespace. Once I’m done and after the move I’ll look into maybe rebuilding my Photo of the Day site too. It’s over 4000 photos. That’s a lot to rebuild.
March 14, 2023 - Tuesday - I’ve know this young lady since she was four years old. Today I got to see her graduate from EMS school. She’s been working so hard and really, really long hours for a long time. I couldn’t be more proud of her, but she’s still the little girl who use to nap in the Studio under her mom’s desk.
March 13, 2023 - Monday - I grilled a bunch of chicken today. I made myself a caesar salad for dinner. Had I known this was going to be my photo of the day I would have picked a piece of chicken with a bit more color on it. Either way it still tasted really good. This should make my nutritionist happy.
March 12, 2023 - Sunday - Today I went out to see my dad and sister out in the country. I’ve seen a Rio Mambo out in Burleson before but never been to this one. I’ve been several times to another location. Their Attitude Adjustment has been my photo of the day on a few occasions. Once I’m out here I’m sure I’ll be here more often.
March 11, 2023 - Saturday - We had another shoot this morning. After we all got together at my friend’s house for a late lunch, early dinner. There were quite a few of us there so I made an extra large batch of guacamole. Aside from the avocados looking practically perfect they were quite delicious too. It was a good day with great friends.
March 10, 2023 - Friday - The yard guy cut the grass and trimmed everything except this tiny patch of small purple flowers. I was out this morning and saw them in the morning light. I went back in and got my camera.
March 9, 2023 - Thursday - Yesterday the yard guy came for the first time this year. When he left he didn’t put the lock back on the gate so I spent some time in the afternoon chasing after Zak. Pancake decided to follow me to make sure I got him. When I got back my ring finger was hurting. I don’t know why. This is what it looks like today.
March 8, 2023 - Wednesday - I have an old backpack that I’ve had for more than 10 years. I’m at the point where all my stuff doesn’t fit very well in it anymore. I was rearranging all my all my stuff in my bag and noticed this. I guess I’ve never looked at the bottom of my laptop.
March 7, 2023 - Tuesday - At the end of the day I thought a little bit of Jack sounded like a great idea. I was still sitting at my desk doing some personal work. I sat my glass down on my desk and this was what I saw in the glow of my monitors. Riley came in a little later and brought me a little bit of a sparkling red wine. Not my cup of tea.
March 6, 2023 - Monday - I have an old coworker who has a business making jams. I saw her this weekend and picked up a couple, Blackberry Bourbon Vanilla Bean and Strawberry Basil. I don’t know which I like better. The blackberry is really hard to spread because it’s just large chucks of blackberries. It’s only Thursday when I’m writing this and I’m almost out already.
March 5, 2023 - Sunday - The other day I posted about watching Life is Beautiful again. One of my friends brought up the movie Lion. We saw it in the theater together shortly after mom passed. When the boy had a dream about sharing a piece of fruit with his mom I lost it. I was a mess and haven’t watched since. I decided to watch it again tonight. It’s a great movie.
March 4, 2023 - Saturday - I was being lazy today. Not only did I take a good long nap I ordered Chinese for lunch and dinner. I opened one of the fortune cookies and found this. I’m not exactly sure what it means to feel the sun “from both sides”, but it reminds me of the quote from Moulin Rouge, “The greatest thing you will ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.”
March 3, 2023 - Friday - Today I was working on a video and I didn’t want to break my momentum and stop to make lunch. I’ve been craving a burger. This wasn’t quite what I had in mind but it was good. I don’t drink sodas much but since I had this large Coke and it was a late lunch and it is Friday….
March 2, 2023 - Thursday - Early in the evening I was standing in the kitchen thinking about what I was going to have for dinner. Before I started cooking I looked over and saw my olive oil bottle needed to be refilled. The sun was streaming in for the short time it does this time of year. When I sat the bottle down I saw all the tiny bubbles.
March 1, 2023 - Wednesday - Ten years ago today I shared a post about this movie, Life is Beautiful. It showed up in my Facebook Memories today and I decided to watch it again. It’s still my favorite movie of all time. It’s a beautiful comedy set against the Holocaust. It feels wrong just typing that, but there’s a reason it won the Oscar for best foreign film. It has a great soundtrack too.
