February 29, 2024 - Thursday - I had and early doctor’s appointment this morning. I got out a bit before lunch. I met my brother at a local place for breakfast. I could eat breakfast any time of the day. My doctor would not approve of this meal but it’s only once in a long while. According to the scale at the doctor’s office I’ve lost 7lbs since Monday.
February 28, 2024 - Wednesday - Biscuit is a knucklehead sometimes. When we first got her she chewed up all sorts of stuff. The mail and my bank card come to mind. She outgrew that a long time ago. Or so I thought. I had a Lego set on the lowest shelf in my room for the last month or two. She couldn’t resist any longer I guess.
February 27, 2024 - Tuesday - This is the end of an era. My last cookie from Sparkle All Over. I forgot what she called these but I know they have coconut and chocolate chips. Like all her cookies this is delicious. Photos from our shoots pop up in my Photo widget with some regularity and I can’t help but miss them. The Stuffed Carrot Cake, Cinnamon Roll and Dark Chocolate Cherry Walnut come to mind all the time.
February 26, 2024 - Monday - Today I had another doctor's appointment in Dallas. I met a friend for lunch after. I hadn’t seen him a long while and it was great to get caught up. We had a quick lunch and then went down the street. He has a new space near our lunch place that has all his art on display. At least the art he hasn’t sold.
February 25, 2024 - Sunday - I haven't made this in forever. To be honest I haven’t cooked much of anything in forever. I ordered a bunch of groceries yesterday and got stuff specifically to make this. It tastes better with salt but with enough other spices and a bit more cayenne pepper it’s still pretty good. Dad really liked it.
February 24, 2024 - Saturday - For the longest time after I got my fridge it wouldn’t make regular ice, craft ice or dispense water. After getting my fridge here, I couldn’t get the water connected to it. My brother finally was able to get it attached and for the first time it dispensed water but wouldn’t make ice of any kind. I got it connected to my wifi and now I get craft ice, but still no regular ice. What’s up with that?
February 23, 2024 - Friday - Dad had another appointment today but it was at 8am. Getting up early enough to get ready, walk the dogs and get Dad ready and in the car sucks. We had a new Home Health Nurse come and work with Dad today. She was really great. I hope she decides to stay with us. I got this photo of Riley on my Photos widget before I went to bed. I needed a haircut!
February 22, 2024 - Thursday - Today I had an unexpected appointment for Dad at the Ft. Worth VA. It took longer than I had hoped and even then it only led to another appointment at 8a tomorrow morning. I love going to the VA with Dad. You’ll always run into another friendly Marine vet that has a lot of good stories. We had the time to listen to a lot today.
February 21, 2024 - Wednesday - While we were at the vet yesterday we were given an antibiotic for Pancake to help with her sore. Giving her medicine turns out to be considerably easier than when I had to give Shadow meds. It was a complete mess with him. For her just a simple peanut butter cracker is all it takes. I have to make one for Zak and Biscuit too.
February 20, 2024 - Tuesday - Today I had to take Pancake to the vet. She’s had a mass on her belly for some time and we were told as long as it didn’t get bigger and it doesn’t bother her she should be fine. She got a sore on it now so I had to get her checked out again. They recommended we have it removed and tested just to be safe. She scheduled for surgery on the 1st.
February 19, 2024 - Monday - Today was a busy day with work. My sister came over to have dinner with us. My little sister for being a big goofball, she’s quite the cook and baker. She made a big batch of blueberry muffins for us. Toward the end of the evening we were all sitting in the TV room. I got this photo of Biscuit a bit before we went to bed.
February 18, 2024 - Sunday - Today I went to spend some time with my good friend and his family. I brought the tequila my future son-in-law gave me to share with him. I’m not a big fan of tequila but this was really good stuff. Along with a couple of cigars we spent some quality time out by the fire pit. Today was another good day.
February 17, 2024 - Saturday - With my little sister in town for a few days I was able to get away to help a friend and her son do some work at her house. After we got done with all we needed to do we went out to one of my favorite restaurants. These are the Brisket Enchiladas at Frankie’s. The poblano cream sauce underneath it all is possibly the best part.
February 16, 2024 - Friday - Today I’ve been on the go all day. First I got up and did some work then quickly took the dogs for a walk, got Dad ready and then drove to the airport to pick up my little sister. We came home for just a bit and then got back out to take Dad to one of his appointments. We did a bit of grocery shopping and then finally home for dinner. I took the dogs out for their evening walk.
February 15, 2024 - Thursday - I’m not a big fan of tequila. I know the difference between good tequila and the cheap stuff, but honestly, unless it’s in a margarita I usually don’t care for it. My future son-in-law brought this back from Mexico for me the other day and this might be the best tequila I’ve ever tried. It smells delicious.
February 14, 2024 - Wednesday - This evening we got invited next door to have dinner with my brother and some of his family. It’s always nice to get out of the house and see other people. After dinner Dad stayed to visit while I walked back home to take the pups out for our evening walk. I got this while walking across the pasture back home.
February 13, 2024 - Tuesday - Today I spent a lot of time working on the couch. At the right time of the day the sun shines over the girls’ bed. Actually it’s Zak’s bed, but they took it from him. There’s two beds in this room and he rarely lays in either of them because he’s afraid of the girls. Now that Pancake is a bit older her hair is fuller and curlier. Maybe she's a doodle!
February 12, 2024 - Monday - I had an appointment today in Dallas. I took advantage of being in the area and met a friend for lunch at my favorite Indian restaurant. I can’t remember the last time we met for lunch so it was really good to get caught up. Even better getting caught up over some warm naan.
February 11, 2024 - Sunday - Super Bowl Sunday!!! Dad and I went over to my brother’s to watch the game. My niece was there with her family and she brought their puppy. She makes some of the funniest faces, the puppy not my niece. I really didn’t care who won the game but a friend is a big Chiefs fan so I was kinda pulling for them. It was a good game.
February 10, 2024 - Saturday - From dinner yesterday to breakfast this morning. I’ve never been a big fan of blueberries. I like a blueberry muffin as much as the next person, but it’s not like “ooh wow”! My sister sent some blueberries over for oatmeal before and since then it’s a good break from the apple, cinnamon and brown sugar oatmeal I love to make. The pups love this too.
February 9, 2024 - Friday - I found this tomato soup at Kroger that Dad really likes. Finding meals that are easy and quick to prepare is pretty high on the list of things I need more of. I love how Biscuit is just hanging out just in case I want to share some with her. Of all the pups she has the worst manners during dinner.
February 8, 2024 - Thursday - With Dad being home I don’t get a lot of free time. Fortunately the family is nearby and they can come keep Dad company while I get out for a little while to walk the dogs. I got this just as I was leaving the driveway with the pups. It’s really the only open area where I can see the horizon.
February 7, 2024 - Wednesday - One of the things I’ll miss most besides all the amazing cookies is the sweet notes she included with all her orders. Making a wonderful new friend over the last few years had been even better. My cookie-making friend is moving on in her career and I’m quite sad. She did say she would make me some cookies from time to time.

February 5, 2024 - Monday - I took the day off of work today. We got the news earlier today Dad’s being released tomorrow. We had to get the house ready for Dad. I had to bring in all my camping stuff and do a bit of cleaning. Some of the family came over and helped do a lot of the work too.
February 4, 2024 - Sunday - As most of y’all know I love chocolate. I had to run an errand today and took Zak with me. The girls stayed behind in the tent. When I got back I realized they got into my luggage and ate about a dozen Dove dark chocolates. We spent most of the day at the emergency vet. Thankfully the girls are fine. I love those little poopheads. Zak helped keep me warm tonight.
February 3, 2024 - Saturday - Tonight me and the pups are camping outside the house for the weekend. I was planning on being in an Airbnb but the owner didn’t want 3 dogs staying there. I’ve been wanting to go camping for a long while but not on such short notice. I love camping when it’s cooler. We have all the firewood we need out here too.
February 2, 2024 - Friday - Today was a pretty busy day working but when I was done I went to see Dad. I finally stopped by the Fuel City in Cedar Hills to try their tacos. You know how sometimes you eat something and it’s better than the simple ingredients should be. Well this wasn’t that. These were okay at best.
February 1, 2024 - Thursday - I woke up not feeling so good today. I was a bit busy for work and someone else went out to go see Dad. I spent the evening relaxing. Biscuit decided to come and keep me company while I watched a little TV. I had a photo of Zak yesterday and Pancake the other day.
