September 30, 2024 - Monday - In addition to the bunch of hibiscus flowers we’re also getting a bunch of new tiny dandelions. These are out where the pups usually pee. Fortunately they peed a little farther away this morning so when I went out to get this I didn’t have to worry where I was standing.
September 29, 2024 - Sunday - With this cooler weather and more rain the big hibiscus bush on the side of the house has a bunch of new blossoms. I got a few photos but then noticed this bee flying near me. I bet it’s from the same swarm I had to walk through when I was walking the dogs last week.
September 28, 2024 - Saturday - Today was a good day. I got to see my brother for a quick sec before I left to meet a friend and her daughter for lunch. It was good to see them both. It’s been so long since I’ve seen the two of them, plus we walked down the street a bit and got a little dessert. I had a Caesar Salad with grilled chicken for dinner to make up for it.
September 27, 2024 - Friday - My nephew had dinner and a bon fire at his house with some family and friends before leaving for a while tomorrow. I brought a bottle of special Jack to share a drink with him and my brother. We toasted to safe travels and safe returns. It’s been a long while since I’ve had a s’more.
September 26, 2024 - Thursday - My brother had a dinner for all his family before he and his son leave the country for a while. I was sitting in their living room when I heard some tweeting coming from another room. I had no idea he has chickens that lay eggs to have eggs and he has another set of chicken that lay eggs to have more chickens.
September 25, 2024 - Wednesday - I didn’t sleep well or enough the last few days so when I finally wrapped up work today I took a quick nap. It’s really noticeable how much earlier it’s getting darker now. We didn’t go for our evening walk that much later than usual and it was almost dark when we got back to the house.
September 24, 2024 - Tuesday - Today was a busy day with work. It didn’t help that I had to leave to go to a doctor’s appointment. It kinda blows having to see the doctor when everything is fine just so I can keep getting my prescriptions. After my appointment I went down to Kroger to pick them up and save myself a trip later in the week. We took a late walk today.
September 23, 2024 - Monday - This morning I took the dogs for a short walk around the driveway because of the rain. It was the first time I noticed these blossoms on the tree on the side of the house. I waited until the sun came out a bit before I came out here to get a few photos. There’s always a little bug in the flowers when I try to take a photo of them.
September 22, 2024 - Sunday - Walking into the grocery store the other day I fell pray to the display of Halloween candy. At least I didn’t buy the giant bag, right! Every evening after dinner I always crave something chocolate and now that I’m out of cookies, what’s a guy to do? Damn you, Hershey!!!
September 21, 2024 - Saturday - Today I got out to meet a friend for a late lunch. As I was pulling into my parking spot I saw this sitting on the curb between me and the car next to me. I got this quick photo before I went in. It was really hot outside today. I got home just in time to take a little bit of an afternoon nap.
September 20, 2024 - Friday - Today was a full day of work. I did a grocery run at lunch today. It was nice to get away for a bit and actually walk through the grocery store and do a quick bit of shopping. The last several times I’ve just been doing pick ups. I hate that some things aren’t available for pickup but only for delivery. It makes no sense to me. Zak is such a handsome guy.
September 19, 2024 - Thursday - Could we all have a moment of silence for the last of my Dark Chocolate Cherry Walnut cookies. I microwaved this for 9 seconds. It was soft, warm and just as delicious as the day I first received them a little over a month ago. I hope my friend does another fund raiser soon. Maybe with her Salted Chocolate Oatmeal cookies.
September 18, 2024 - Wednesday - Today was a long day of work. Not necessarily full of work. I took a break in the middle of the day to run an errand with my sister. We also picked up a late lunch while we were out. After I finished up for the day. I took the pups for our evening stroll. I love when they all lay together on the couch with me.
September 17, 2024 - Tuesday - There’s a bit of a wooded area along the side of the road on our evening walk. I hear critters rustling in the undergrowth here and see rabbit and squirrels from time to time. The ditch here is Pancake’s usual pooping area. I looked up while we were all waiting on her to finish her business.
September 16, 2024 - Monday - It’s been a long while since I’ve made some avocado toast for breakfast. I think the dogs were more excited about it than I was. They were crowding me a bit when I sat down to eat. They have pretty good manners and usually wait patiently for me to share after I eat. This time they sat a bit closer and kept a close eye on me.
September 15, 2024 - Sunday - When Mom passed our family started finding and sharing dimes because Mom collected dimes. None of us know why. My dad told my little sister something about screws, I don’t remember what, but since he passed she finds them all over the streets of NYC. I’ve been in the driveway countless times. Today I found this one.
September 14, 2024 - Saturday - Today was a good day spent over at my good friend’s house. We had a few drinks, smoked a cigar and grilled some delicious picanha. He made a really great chimichurri to go with it. His wife has been making pies lately and tonight she practiced again on us. She makes great banana bread and now she mades great apple pies too.
September 13, 2024 - Friday - Today was a really long day of work. Late in the day we finally came out to relax on the couch before taking our evening walk. We all had dinner when we got back and settled in to continue our John Williams movies. Tonight we watched Raiders of the Lost Ark. Another incredibly memorable and timeless theme.
September 12, 2024 - Thursday - Yesterday I went to do a grocery pick up. I parked my car near the house to take in the groceries. I ended up leaving it there. This afternoon I was going to move my car to my normal parking spot but saw this on the front tire when I walked out. I may have to sell this car as is.
September 11, 2024 - Wednesday - It was very late in the evening when I realized I hadn’t taken a photo for this photo of the day collection. Fortunately Pancake was lying beside me on the couch and my camera was on the table next to me. We do have a good night time routine going. I think maybe it was a good thing it didn’t work out with that other puppy.
September 10, 2024 - Tuesday - This is my next to last one. I put this in the microwave for a few seconds before I ate it for an afternoon snack. In case you haven’t see the other photos recently, it’s a Dark Chocolate Cherry Walnut cookie from my magical, cookie-making friend. I don’t know when I get more of these.
September 9, 2024 - Monday - I worked from the couch most of the day today. Zak and the girls take their turns up here with me. Biscuit has a whole lot more trust in Pancake than I do with any of my dogs. I’m not sleeping with my nose anywhere near any of their butts. Pancake’s butt did muffle Biscuit’s snoring.
September 8, 2024 - Sunday - It’s that time of year again. These tiny white flowers are popping up all over the yard. There’s even more next door. I saw so many of them while on our morning walk with the pups. I think every time I try to take a photo of a small flower there’s always a little bug on it.
September 7, 2024 - Saturday - For the third night in a row I’m watching another John Williams movie. I’m not going in chronological order exactly. Christopher Reeve to me still looks like a real Superman more than any other actor since. I remember thinking Superman deserved a prettier girlfriend. Sorry Margot Kidder.
September 6, 2024 - Friday - I remember being a kid and waiting and waiting and waiting for this movie to come out. It’s probably my favorite of all the Star Wars movies. The Empire’s theme is just genius. Finding out Vader was Luke’s Dad was the original Sixth Sense twist. Waiting another 3 years for the next movie sucked. I remember that too.
September 5, 2024 - Thursday - I’m continuing my John Williams movies. This is The Cowboys with John Wayne. This movie came out in ’72 and I remember watching it with Dad when I was little. It’s about John Wayne using a bunch of young boys as cowhands. I think whoever did the music for City Slickers used this as their inspiration.
September 4, 2024 - Wednesday - I only have a couple of these left. I had the family over last weekend and my sister was in town the other day so I didn’t eat them all myself. Look at all the deliciousness you can see in this cookie. I really hope my cookie-making friend does another fundraiser soon. My nutritionist would probably disagree.
September 3, 2024 - Tuesday - Today was a full day of work. After I finished working and after our evening walk we usually have dinner and relax on the couch. This is Biscuit’s go to spot when I’m on the couch and not using my laptop. She almost always climbs into the space behind my knee.
September 2, 2024 - Monday - It’s been a long while since I’ve been able to meet my “two” daughters for a meal. Today we finally got one scheduled. One of them picked this Ethiopian place. This isn’t very photogenic but it sure was good and quite spicy. It’s a lamb dish served with this foam looking “bread”. No silverware on the table at all either. It was great getting to see them all.
September 1, 2024 - Sunday - Today my sister’s flight home was delayed repeatedly. It worked out for the best because we went over to my brother’s and had brisket sandwiches for a late lunch. I got a new seat cover for the car and decided to take the dogs with us for a ride to the airport. We stopped at this place near the house to get this photo.
