September 30, 2013 - Monday
I started to make the Greek Chicken Pasta salad maybe for the last time this year. It's such a Spring and Summer dish. I got so caught up in Saints game while I was making it I completely forgot to take a picture of the finished product.

I went to watch the Cowboy game at a friends house. They have already put out their Halloween decorations. This pile of bones is in their fireplace.

A Saturday evening in. Actually it was a whole Saturday in. With all my meds back in my system I'm feeling a whole lot better. I spent the whole day cleaning and doing laundry. I didn't cook but ordered a pizza and had a glass of wine. Maybe it was two.

Looking at dogs online is not even close to the same as seeing them in person. This guy shares a really big home with two people and 30+ other dogs, mostly St. Bernards. This is Polar Bear. He's about 125 lbs and pretty friendly. I knelt down to pet him and we were about eye to eye.

This is the little girl we found on Saturday. She's awake about as much as she's asleep. She'll get up and play for a little while and then you'll look over and she's asleep just like this. I still don't really care for cats.

I am so thankful to be sticking myself in each leg with these despite how much I don't like shots. With the relief I get from them you would think that I wouldn't forget about it, but I think because I don't like doing it I subconsciously put it out of my mind.

My sister got to a family get together with this little girl stuck in her truck's engine compartment next to the battery. We took the battery out to free her. Riley and I are looking for a new pet but this is NOT at all what I had in mind. Of course Riley baby talked her all the way home. Yes, she's at our home now.

I went to meet a friend for lunch near the Apple store on Knox. It was kinda drizzly all day. Leaving lunch I drove past all the people lined up out in the rain waiting to get their new iPhones. I want the new phone too, but I'm not even thinking about waiting in line to get it. Let alone waiting in the rain.

A friend was having a bad day and really could use a drink after work. I didn't want her to drink alone so we found a patio to have a few appetizers and a drink or two. We also got to enjoy watching the rain blow in and cool off the back side of the Texas summer season.

I downloaded the new OS for my iPhone earlier today. To me not a ton of new features, but a cool new look and no noticeable bugs so far. I'm eligible for a new phone with Sprint so I'll be picking up the new 5S soon.

I went to meet a friend for dinner. On the way home I called Riley to see if she needed anything. One of the perks of being a single dad to a daughter. My friend texted me to let me know she got home okay and asked if I was home. I texted her this picture and let her know I wasn't home yet.

I got out of the shower this morning and was in the middle of getting ready for work. I squirted a bit of gel in my hand like I normally do and it came out just like this. I guess somewhere someone who loves me is thinking about me. Or it was just a piece of dried gel stuck under the lid.

I got up crazy early to go to a hot air balloon festival with a friend. It ended up being too windy for the balloons to launch so we left early. We ended up finding a patio for breakfast and another for lunch. After, I went to pick up Riley to go look at puppies. A lot of fun crammed to into one day.

I went to see my doctor to get a new prescription for my shot. I hadn't found a source yet for it, but I called Kroger just to get the cost. Without insurance, $3164 for a one month supply!?!? Our health care system is all screwed up. My doctor very generously hooked me up with some free samples. So relieved.

After work I picked up my two daughters and took them to Tony's for dinner. This place is so good and so crazy cheep. The three of us hadn't been out to dinner together in a while. It's always fun and entertaining.

This morning when I was putting on my shoes I realized how dirty they were. They still have dirt on them from when I went out and buried Shadow. I don't mean to be a downer, but its still lingering on my mind. I miss my friends.

Riley went to a friend's house after school so I went to meet a friend for drinks after work. It's nice to not have to go home to an empty house. It's still really weird at a home with no dogs.

I made a baked ziti for dinner. I'll have lunch for the rest of the week too. So easy and so good.

I am tempering my excitement about the Cowboys this year after so many years of utter disappointment and them coming close to losing to the Giants in spite of their 6 turnovers. But I am excited about football season in general.

I took RIley somewhere and saw someone watering their yard on the way home. I had to drive around the block to take this from the right angle. I kinda wanted to run through it.

A couple of good friends found out about Shadow and sent me some cookies and milk to make me feel better. The cookies helped a little, but it helped more just knowing they cared.

Shadow had been getting better but yesterday wasn't a good day for him. I decided to take him to the vet today at lunch. He didn't make it. I made that drive back out to the country to lay him to rest next to the others. This time I needed a drink. He was supposed to hang around a few more years at least.

Woke up this morning feeling like crap. Sore throat and stuffy nose, etc... It just got worse as the day went on. I stopped by the grocery store and stocked up. NyQuil is the best.

So the friend I saw yesterday I hadn't seen or had a chance to catch up with in over 7 years. We stayed up talking for hours and hours. It was after 4 in the morning before I got home. I took this on the way home. This last road trip I think might be my car's last though it still runs great. I just knocked on wood.

Went to go see a friend I haven't seen in several years. This is Mick. I was warned that he might snap at me but this guy had perfect manners. When I stopped scratching the top of his head he would sit up like this and give me the same look. What a cool guy.
