April 30, 2023 - Sunday - This morning I got up kinda late so dad and I didn’t eat until almost lunch time. My sister sent over some fresh blueberries for us the other day. I decide to make us some oatmeal with them. I used dark brown sugar this time and drizzled a little bit of honey over the top. Not too shabby!
April 29, 2023 - Saturday - Tonight Dad and I decided we could use a little bit of whisky. I don’t remember where I got these glasses but they were appropriate for tonight. If you’re looking too closely at this you might think the drink in the back is quite a bit more full than the other, but it just had a really big block of ice in it.
April 28, 2023 - Friday - I spent most of the day working making edits to a video I did yesterday. My issue since I moved here is the internet is very pretty to very slow and very unreliable. I’ve order new service but the wait is 4-6 weeks. Fortunately the wait is almost over. Tuesday I should be working in the modern world again.
April 27, 2023 - Thursday - Today I got out with dad to go to one of his dentist appointments. We stopped at a good breakfast place in town on the way. I asked the waitress what her favorite thing on the menu was. She recommended the Texas Steak Scramble with an egg over medium instead of scrambled. She has very good taste!
April 26, 2023 - Wednesday - A while back my brother got some more little chickens to keep egg production up. They’re not so little anymore. He keeps them in a small pen near his home. They even have a little heat lamp to keep them warm. I’m all about more eggs but no more roosters, PLEASE!!!
April 25, 2023 - Tuesday - While at dinner with the family last night I mentioned that we should go out for pho for dinner tonight. Luckily it worked out that we could all make it. House of Pho here is really good but not as good as the I Love Pho on Forest in Dallas. It’s been really cool getting to eat so often with the family out here.
April 24, 2023 - Monday - My sister-in-law is a really nice person, but a while back I realized she’s quite sneaky. I’m a Longhorn fan. Their family are all Aggie fans. Quite a while back I was eating there and she served me in an Aggie cup. I never paid attention before but noticed she did this a few times in a row. A while back I asked if she did this on purpose and she just laughed. It’s been going on for years.
April 23, 2023 - Sunday - Woke up to the sound of light rain. And roosters. There are always roosters. I took out the dogs this morning for a quick walk. It was barely raining but the girls really don’t like the long wet grass. In this gentle rain there are drops sitting on everything. I went in, got my camera, came back out and found this spider web.
April 22, 2023 - Saturday - One of the other perks for living out here in the country is the fresh eggs. When I take the dogs for a walk we go by the chicken pen. I think Pancake wants to try one, but they are a little taller than she is. It took about a week before she could walk past them without barking.
April 21, 2023 - Friday - Today my sister-in-law called me while I was working. She was trying to get ahold of my brother. He was out cutting the grass and couldn’t hear his phone. While I was out getting his attention I saw these growing near mom’s roses. I went in and got my camera. There were only a few in the sun and this one has a tenant.
April 20, 2023 - Thursday - Today dad said he wanted pizza for dinner. There’s only one restaurant out here in the country, so there’s not a lot to choose from. They do have a drive thru for pickup. We ordered our pizza and hung out in the parking lot while we waited for our order. It was raining just a little bit when we left home.
April 19, 2023 - Wednesday - I kinda like sweet potato fries. I’ve tried sweet potatoes with the marshmallows on top. I really don’t like those. Today my sister sent over some pie with dad. She even topped it with whipped cream. I was really excited because I thought it was pumpkin pie. It wasn’t. I now know I don’t like sweet potato pie either.
April 18, 2023 - Tuesday - One of the small downsides of living out here in the country is I have to take the dogs for a walk when they need to go out. I can’t just let them outside. Zak will wander off and Pancake might get picked up by a hawk. Biscuit is like a brick, nothing is picking her up. I saw this out while we were on our walk.
April 17, 2023 - Monday - Today I had a doctors appointment back in Dallas. Dad went with me and we had lunch while we were there. After we dropped by to see Riley at her job for a bit. After doing a bit of work I had dinner. I got my camera out to take a photo of my dinner. Biscuit was sitting nearby as usual. I don’t even remember what I had for dinner now.
April 16, 2023 - Sunday - One of my really good friends fosters dogs. She had a dog named Oreo that found a home here in Burleson. I met her for lunch in town. When we were done I went to do some grocery shopping. I really don’t like having to learn a new grocery store. The Kroger here is huge. I did find some new collars for the girls.
April 15, 2023 - Saturday - Today I had a shoot with my cookie client, Sparkle All Over. It went really well. After our shoot I met up with a friend I’ve not seen in a while. Coincidentally she picked a restaurant the has a partnership with my cookie client. This is the Brookie Ice Cream Sandwich. I met my other good friend for a cigar and a glass of whiskey. Today was a good day!
April 14, 2023 - Friday - Dad was going through some old boxes earlier today. I walked into the kitchen and saw this on the counter. If you’re old enough you know what this is. And if you’re like me you had a bunch of these in your house. Remember having to wait a few days to find out if any of your photos were any good.
April 13, 2023 - Thursday - I went out to dinner with a bunch of the family. We went to one of their favorite Mexican places here. Their margarita swirl is pretty good. The company was even better.
April 12, 2023 - Wednesday - I’ve had quite a bit of freelance work the last few days which means I’ve ben working late every night. Today I thought it was going to be a normal work day but one of my clients needed some more work. By the time I was done and came to lay on the bed Zak was already on his back snoring quite loudly.
April 11, 2023 - Tuesday - At almost all the video shoots we’ve done lately I’ve had to end up swapping out my memory cards about half way through. I bought something that will help limit the need to do that in the future. My cameras all got bigger cards now so I can take photos until the cows come home. Hahahahaha I live in the country now!
April 10, 2023 - Monday - I took the dogs out for their afternoon walk. I had been wanting to get a photo of one of the dandelions growing out here, but my brother cut the grass the other day and there are only one or two left. The sun was hitting this one just right. I’m not sure how good this will look on a phone but it’s really cool on my big monitor.
April 9, 2023 - Sunday - Today was another really good day! Dad and I spent Easter at my nephew’s house. Their family is always fun to hang around with. There was lots of good food and lots of different desserts, which I had more than my fair share. We were walking around the house when we got back. Mom still has roses growing here.
April 8, 2023 - Saturday - Today was a pretty special day. I’ve know this young man since he was 4 or 5. It’s been a something to see him grow up to be the young man his is today. Tonight was his confirmation and his parents chose me to be his sponsor. I’m not Catholic but I guess that’s not an issue.
April 7, 2023 - Friday - I had to rearrange some of the stuff on my desk. More specifically my backup hard drives and the glass paperweight Riley gave me when she was little. Late in the evening I looked over and saw the glass catching the blue flashing light from the hard drives.
April 6, 2023 - Thursday - I spent another long day editing and animating. I got some new gear delivered today too. After work I checked it all out. By the time I was done for the day I was just tired and I hadn’t taken a photo for today yet. I was sitting at my desk wondering what to do. These were just sitting there too.

April 4, 2023 - Tuesday - I’ve had my current backpack since early 2011. Doing shoots a bit more frequently and having to travel to some of them I needed a bigger backpack. I didn’t want to go with the obvious photography backpack so it was a bit challenging to find one that was big enough to hold the camera cube I got for my stuff. This one works.
April 3, 2023 - Monday - Over the years I’ve gotten rid of a bunch of stuff periodically. The one thing I always keep are cards. Christmas cards, birthday cards, thank you cards. During my last move I put a bunch of separate piles all into one big pile. I was going through some of them and came across this one. It’s pretty special.
Sunday - It was nice to be home today and not really have anywhere to go. I’m looking forward to not having to go back to Dallas this coming week at all. I invited a bunch of family out to go to dinner. I picked the place with the good menudo here in Burleson. This was growing outside. It looked nice in the evening sun.
April 1, 2023 - Saturday - Today was a very long and busy day. I went to the house in Dallas one last time. I met the lady that came to give the house one last good cleaning and to pick up the last few things. While picking up a box I found a dime in it. A little later I was sweeping and found another. Today was a good day!
